The Mountains of Separation

“Until the day breaks

And the shadows flee away,

Turn, my beloved,

And be like a gazelle

Or a young stag

Upon the mountains of Bether” (Song of Solomon 2:17)

The footnotes in my NKJV bible says “Bether” literally means “Separation”.

Emotionally, I dwell in the valley of Bether.

The beauty of the mountains reminds me of both His presence and His absence, all at once.

The mountains that separate us are also the mountains which He will scale.

The mountains that block my view of what is beyond are also where He will be sighted.

If trials foreshadow glory, then yes, separation foreshadows union. Behold, He comes...
